BGCOKC to receive $60,000 from The Boeing Company to further STEM Education

OKLAHOMA CITY (September 21, 2020) – The Boeing Company has committed to donating $60,000 to support the unmanned aerial vehicle program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County (BGCOKC).  This program will provide an opportunity for members to learn higher-level math and science skills outside of the school setting.

“Programs like our drone program are critical in today’s times,” said BGCOKC President & CEO, Teena Belcik. “Due to distance learning, students are unable to have access to hands on STEM activities, which are essential in developing long-term problem-solving skills. This program also exposes our members to potential job opportunities in the aerospace industry, which is booming in the State of Oklahoma.”

Oklahoma City is home to some of the nation’s largest aerospace companies, including The Boeing Company which has been a longstanding partner of the Club. Employees from Boeing’s Oklahoma City office are embedded in the program, working side by side with the members as they design, build and code their drones.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County to provide students with these critical STEM learning opportunities, especially now,” said Nancy Anderson, Boeing vice president of Aircraft Modernization and Modification and Boeing Oklahoma City site executive. “Boeing is committed to helping these future innovators gain the skills they need to be successful.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County is committed to helping the youth who need us most in our community. Partnerships with companies like Boeing are critical to ensuring that every member has access to a great future.
